Day 1 Australia/Shanghai

Fly from Australia to Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, you will be
greeted by your Guide and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 Shanghai/ Train (B/L/D)

In the morning tour we will visit the Bund, a popular promenade along the Huangpu River, where the old meets the modern in Shanghai. You may see the local people performing Tai Chi during your stroll along the Bund. Afterwards, we will visit the Old Town with its winding alleyways, lined with shops, teahouses and restaurants, and then to the elegant and tranquil Yu Garden. Shopping will be arranged in the afternoon for food and some necessities for the train trip to Lhasa before being transferred to the railway station for train T164(1952/2048+2)to Lhasa.

Day 3 on the train (own meal)

The Qingzang railway is a high-altitude railway that connects Xining, Qinghai Province, to Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region. The total length of Qingzang railway is 1956 km. The 1142 km section between Golmud and Lhasa was inaugurated on 1 July 2006. The line includes the Tanggula Pass, at 5,072 m above sea level, is the world’s highest rail track. More than 960 km, or over 80% of the Golmud-Lhasa section, is at an altitude of more than 4,000 m. There are 675 bridges, totaling 159.88 km, and about 550 km of the railway is laid on permafrost.

Day 4 Lhasa (own meal)

Train arrives in Lhasa in the evening. Upon arrival you will be greeted by your Guide and transferred to your hotel.

Day 5 Lhasa (B/L/D)

Today’s excursion features the renovated Potala Palace, which rises majestically from the face of sacred Putuo Hill. Proceed to visit Jokhang Monastery, one of the holiest shrines in Tibet and its history can date back to 7th century. Then visit Bakhor market, the famous bazaar at Eight-Corner Street, Lhasa.

Day 6 Lhasa (B/L/D)

After breakfast, visit Drupung Monastery. The Drupung Monastery houses many cultural relics, which adorn the monastery and make it more superb. Then visit Sera Monastery, is one of the ‘great three’Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet. Proceed to visit the Norbulingka Palace, which was the Summer Palace of Tibetan Kings and recently was listed as a world heritage site.

Day 7 Lhasa/Shigatse (B/L/D)

After breakfast, transfer to Shigaste. Visit the holly Yamdrok Lake en route. Shigaste means “the fertile land”. It is an ancient holy city that is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, one of the spiritual leaders in Tibet.

Day 8 Shigatse/Lhasa (B/L)

After breakfast, visit the Tashilunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, who is the second most important leader in Tibetan Buddhism. Move on to visit Pelkor Chode Monastery. The earliest history of the Penchor Chode Monastery can be traced to the ninth century. Then go back to Lhasa.

Day 9 Lhasa/Shanghai (B/L)

Free in the morning and after lunch you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai.

Day 10 Shanghai/Australia (B)

You are free for some last minute shopping before being transferred to the airport for your flight back home.

Day 11 Australia

Arrival in Australia.
