Day 01 Australia/Beijing
Upon arrival, you will be met by CTS guide and transferred to your hotel.
Day 02 Beijing (B/L/D)
Tour starts from the Tian’anmen Square, the biggest public square in the
world. You will also be able to have a photo stop at The National Centre
for the Performing Arts, formerly known as the National Grand Theatre,
and colloquially described as The Egg. Afterwards, visit Forbidden City,
the vast complex of palaces, which was home to successive Emperors
for more than 500 years. Included is admission to the living quarters,
museum and jewelry sections. After a Chinese lunch, tour to the Temple of Heaven, the 500-year old Temple houses altars on which sacrifices and offerings were laid to the gods in a glorious setting of gardens, tress and sculptures. Today this park is a favorite gathering spot for local residents where they come to sing, dance, exercise and relax. Tonight you will experience the famous Beijing Duck banquet for your welcome dinner.
Day 03 Beijing (B/L/D)
Morning tour to the Great Wall at Juyongguan section, stretching almost
4,000 miles from the Pacific Ocean to the sands of Central Asia and
befittingly crowned one of the ten wonders of the world. Along the way,
you will stopover at China National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) and China
National Aquatics Centre (Water Cube) for taking photos, then stop at a jade carving factory where you can watch artisans at work. Continue to the Summer Palace, the largest and the best preserved of all imperial
palace gardens, which boasts such delights as the famous Marble Boat and the ornately painted ‘Long Corridor’, and take a boat ride on its Lake Kunming if the weather permits. After dinner, you will witness the amazing Beijing Acrobatic Show.
Day 04 Beijing=Taiyuan (B/L/D)
Morning, take a train ride to Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi Province. Upon arrival, visit the Jinci Temple, which is a combination of historical cultural relics and beautiful landscapes. Jinci Temple is world-famous because it is an ancient ancestral temple, something which is rare in China.
Day 05 Taiyuan-Pingyao (B/L/D)
On the way to Pingyao, we visit the Qiao Family Compound. The compound was first built in 1756 in the Qing Dynasty and renovated twice and enlarged once. The Qiao Compound gained its renown not only for its large scale but also for the exquisite craftsmanship reflected in the
brick carving, woodcarving and murals. We walk the Ming-Qing Street in
Pingyao later on.
Day 06 Pingyao=Xi’an (B/L)
After breakfast, we visit the ancient City Wall, the Rishengchang Financial House Museum, and the Yamen, a former government building of the Qing Dynasty. Then travel to Xi’an by overnight train. A visit to the Rishengchang Financial House Museum will give you an insight into the enterprise and ingenuity of the merchants of ancient China. In particular it will illustrate how the Shanxi Merchants made a vital contribution to the development of Chinese trade.
Day 07 Xi’an (B/L)
Arrival into Xi’an in the morning. After breakfast at the hotel, we will have a museum tour to Shaanxi History Museum. Rest of day will be free at
leisure. *Hotel check-in after 14:00 hours.
Day 08 Xi’an (B/L/D)
Morning tour to the greatest archaeological discovery of the century, more than 2,000 year-old Terracotta Warriors interred with the Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Included are the Circle Vision Movie and Bronze Chariot. On the way to the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, we visit Xi’an Art Ceramic and Lacquer Ware Factory, which focus on the reproductions of
terra-cotta warriors and horses and lacquer ware products. The craftsman in the factory, with professional knowledge, have made the replica of terra-cotta warriors and horses that popularly accepted as souvenirs and gifts by both Chinese and foreign visitors. In the afternoon, we walk through the lively Muslim Quarter and market, visit to the Great Mosque,
a best-preserved Islamic mosque in China and focus for the 30,000 Chinese Muslims of Xi’an. Tonight, you will sample the Xi’an dumpling
dinner. Afterwards, you will enjoy the Tang Dynasty Show.
Day 09 Xi’an* (B)
Today is a free day for you to explore this ancient city on your own path. *International Horticultural Expo 2011 will be held in Xi’an from 28 April to 22 October. You may take an optional tour to this event.
Day 10 Xi’an=Luoyang (B/L/D)
Express Train to Luoyang in the morning. Upon arrival, visit the UNESCO listed Longmen Grottoes, which is regarded as one of the three most famous treasure houses of stone inscriptions in China.
Day 11 Luoyang-Dengfeng (B/L/D)
Enjoy your extension trip to Shaolin Temple. The temple is the cradle of the Chinese Zen Buddhism and the Shaolin Martial Arts such as Shaolin Cudgel.
Day 12 Dengfeng – Zhengzhou/Shanghai (B/L/D)
Transfer to airport for your flight to metropolitan Shanghai via the city of Zhengzhou. If time permit, we visit the Yellow River Museum and
1938 Yellow River Flood Memorial. Upon arrival into Shanghai, transfer to the hotel.
Day 13 Shanghai (B/L)
In the morning tour we will visit the Bund, a popular promenade along the Huangpu River, where the old meets the modern in Shanghai. You may see the local people performing Tai Chi during your stroll along the Bund. Afterwards, we will visit the Old Town with its winding alleyways, lined with shops, teahouses and restaurants, and then to the elegant and
tranquil Yu Garden. In the afternoon we will visit Shanghai Xintiandi, which is a new tourist attraction in downtown Shanghai, featuring the
city’s unique “Shikumen” houses and a maze of narrow alleys, which have been converted into cafes, restaurants, bars, art retail shops. Dinner
will be on your own arrangement.
Day 14 Shanghai/Australia (B)
Full day at leisure to shop and explore this modern cosmopolitan city on your own prior to be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
Day 15 Australia
Arrive in Australia.
