Day 01 Australia/Shanghai

Fly from Australia to Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, you will be greeted by our CTS Guide and transferred to your hotel.
Day 02 Shanghai/Chengdu (B)
Free till transfer to the airport for a flight to Chengdu.

Day 03 Chengdu (B/L/D)

Visit the renowned Panda Breeding and Research Centre in Chengdu. The giant pandas are not only a Chinese national treasure but are also beloved by people the world over. They are found only in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. In total there are fewer than 1000, of which 80% are distributed within the territory of Sichuan province. Therefore, when visitors from home and abroad come to Chengdu, Sichuan Province one of their main objectives will be to see the giant pandas for themselves. Then, we visit a Local Tea House and the Wuhou Memorial Temple (Wuhou Ci), which is dedicated to Zhuge Liang, the Martial Marquis of Shu in the Three Kingdoms (220 AD-280 AD). Afterward, we visit the ancient Jinli Street in Chengdu, which was in ancient time one of the busiest commercial boulevards of the Kingdom of Shu. Tonight you can try the local cuisine – Sichuan style hot & spicy.

Day 04 Chengdu/Lhasa (B/L/D)

Take a morning flight to Lhasa and transfer to your hotel. This afternoon you will relax in order to acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 05 Lhasa (B/L/D)

Today’s excursion features the renovated Potala Palace, which rises majestically from the face of sacred Putuo Hill and recently listed as a world heritage site, the Norbulingka Palace, which was the Summer Palace of Tibetan Kings.

Day 06 Lhasa (B/L/D)

Today’s sightseeing begins with the Bakhor, the famous bazaar at Eight-Corner Street, and 7th century Jokhang Monastery, one of the holiest shrines in Tibet. In the afternoon, visit the cliff-top Drepung Monastery.

Day 07 Lhasa (B/L/D)

Today’s tour includes Sera Monastery, visiting a Tibetan Clinic and a typical Tibetan Family.

Day 08 Lhasa=Xining (B)

Transfer to the railway station after breakfast and start your expedition journey on Holy Roll. Along the way, we will make several stops at Nachu Or Damshung, the Headstream of Yangtze River of Kekexili and at the Scenery Sight Viewing Stop at Kunlum Mountain

Day 09 Xining (B/L)

Upon arrival in Xining, transferred to your hotel.

Day 10 Xining (B/L/D)

City Tour in Xining including excursion tour to Ta’er Monastery (Kumbum Monastery), which is one of the six biggest monasteries of the Yellow Hat Sect (Gelugpa Sect) of Tibetan Buddhism. In memory of the founder of the Yellow Hat Sect, Tsong Khapa (1357-1419), an
11-meter-high pagoda was built at his birthplace, today’s Huangzhong County about 30 kilometers southwest of Xining, Qinhai Province in 1577. Later it was enlarged into a monastery, a perfect complex of both the Tibet style architecture and the Han style buildings. Qinghai Lake and Bird Island is the most charming and attractive place in the area. Situated on the western shore of Qinghai Lake, the island attracts hundreds of thousands of migrating birds in spring and summer. Birds of different species such as geese, gulls, sandpipers and cormorants, nest on the island and the sound of its calls, twitters are carried far and away. For birds as well as bird watching enthusiasts, the island represents nothing short of a piece of heaven.

Day 11 Xining/Shanghai (B)

Transfer to the airport and fly to Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, you will be met & transferred to the hotel.

Day 12 Shanghai (B/L)

In the morning tour we will visit the Bund, a popular promenade along the Huangpu River, where the old meets the modern in Shanghai. You may see the local people performing Tai Chi during your stroll along the Bund. Afterwards, we will visit the Old Town with its winding alleyways, lined with shops, teahouses and restaurants, and then to the elegant and tranquil Yu Garden. In the afternoon we will visit Shanghai Xintiandi, which is a new tourist attraction in downtown Shanghai, featuring the city’s unique “Shikumen” houses and a maze of narrow alleys, which have been converted into cafes, restaurants, bars, art retail shops. Dinner will be on your own arrangement.

Day 13 Shanghai (B)

A free day to shop till you drop or to explore this booming city on your own path.
From 01 May to 31 October 2010, World Expo 2010 Shanghai might be the important event. The theme of Expo 2010 is “Better City, Better Life,” representing the common wish of the whole humankind for a better living in future urban environments. The quest for a better life has run through the urban history of mankind. Through different sub-themes, Expo 2010 will create blueprints for future cities and harmonious urban life styles, providing an extraordinary educational and entertaining platform for visitors of all nations.
The Expo Site covers a total area of 5.28 square kilometers, including the enclosed area and outside areas of support facilities. The Expo Site spans both sides of the Huangpu River, with 3.93 sq km in Pudong and 1.35 sq km in Puxi. The enclosed area measures 3.28 sq km. There are 12 pavilion groups, eight in the Pudong Section and four in Puxi, each with an average area of 10–15 hectares.
CTS Australia will provide you standard one-day World Expo ticket on complementary basis. The transfers will be on your own arrangement.

Day 14 Shanghai/Australia (B)

Today you are free for some last minute shopping before being transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
